Encanto Elementary Students Hold Digital Mock Election
More than 100 students at Encanto Elementary School took part in a digital mock election designed to make civic participation tangible, engaging, and age-appropriate. The program gave students a chance to experience the major parts of an election rather than simply learning about them in a classroom lesson.
Students participated in campaigning, leadership activities, public speaking, and voting before the results were announced. SafeBallot provided the digital voting experience, allowing the children to see how technology can support a clear and organized election process.
The winning class received a pizza party, but the larger purpose was civic education. By giving students a hands-on role in the process, the event introduced ideas such as representation, participation, responsibility, and the value of making one's voice heard.
NBC 7 San Diego covered the event in a two-minute report, highlighting both the enthusiasm of the students and SafeBallot's effort to encourage civic engagement well before young people reach voting age.
